Coleonyx mitratus

Coleonyx mitratus, or as it is also referred to, Central american banded gecko is a gecko that is related to the more common Leopard gecko but lives virtually on the other side of the planet.

Coleonyx mitratus prefers an environment with relatively high humidity and a temperature of about 25 °C, 77°F . It doesn´t grow as large as it´s cousin but just as the leopard gecko it feeds almost exclusively on insects. A healthy banded gecko has a huge appetite and watching it hunting is a truly entertaining  sight.

Coleonyx mitratus is a gecko that has had a shifting popularity. That hasn´t stopped me from being in love with this species from the moment I first laid eyes on it.

This is a very attractive lizard that is extremely easy to care for. It is a very suitable gecko even for for beginners.
