Tropiocolotes persicus
Tropiocolotes persicus, with the added subspecies name euphorbiacola, belongs to a group of geckos known as Microgeckos. This group of geckos has its range from North Africa to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
This group of geckos consists, as can be guessed by the name, of a number of very small species. Their total lenght, including the tail, rarely exceeds 8 cm.
In spite of their small size they are great fun. Watching these little guys are incredibly fascinating. They are active hunters and when they hunt they do so with their tail mostly bent forward or swinging from side to side. Their ability to climb glass is zero but when it comes to climbing rocks and tree stumps they are just as good as their climbing cousins.
They manage to get a grip even on apparently smooth surfaces and when doing so they seem to prefer sitting with their heads downwards.
T persicus euphorbiacola is one of the most beautifully patterned species in its group and I plan on finding myself a few more.
These geckos prefers warm and dry environments with daytime temperatures between 25 and 35° C but benefits from a light shower every or every other evening.
As a bonus when keeping these geckos you also get a scaly nightingale. These geckos sing almost like a bird and in relation to its modest size they are, to say the least, noisy.
